Earl Crittenden

Is a New York City-based screenwriter and playwright.  His full length dark comedy, The Kitchen, recently completed a limited Off Broadway run at the AMT Theatre in New York City to sold out houses. The Kitchen was previously a Finalist in the Kaplan Playwriting Competition at Eventide Theatre Company in Dennis, MA, and a Semi-Finalist at TNT POPS! in Texas.  

Earl adapted The Kitchen into a feature screenplay, which won Best Feature Script in The New York International Film Awards (July 2026). The Kitchen adaptation also garnered awards from The Berlin International Screenwriting Festival (Finalist); The Rhode Island International Film Festival (Semi-Finalist); and The San Francisco Int’l Screenwriting and Film Awards (Quarterfinalist). The Kitchen screenplay also received an Award of Excellence from The IndieFEST Film awards in California.

His short plays Rubbish and Pit Stop have been staged at Chelsea Repertory Company in New York, Thrown Stone Theatre in Connecticut, Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania, Barking Legs Theater in Tennessee, and NYC Pride Fest's OUT/PLAY 2025. Lease and Desist appeared in the international publication Mini Plays Review. Earl trained in playwriting at The Acting Studio – New York and privately with Lucy Wang (Junk Bonds).  He studied acting at HB Studio in Greenwich Village.

As an actor, Earl appeared on Another World and One Life to Live. He has written for New York Magazine and Hamptons and George. A graduate of the University of Florida and Fordham University School of Law, Earl is also a member of the Dramatists Guild.
